It wouldn't get any worse eath has become a taboo in Estonia because people have become afraid of it. Until a few decades ago, relatives took care of the deceased themselves: washed, tended, and dressed the departed. Now it’s all done in a funeral parlour. People are afraid to talk about death for no good reason: as if death will come when it is the topic of conversation. It will not. For ten years, the death rate in Estonia was stable, but when suddenly there are couple of thousand deaths more than usual, it must be talked about. The reason for the increase in deaths was not just the hot summer, the coronavirus or patients who did not receive timely medical care because of restrictions. Death is everywhere. Death is a part of life, as they say. For many, death is just a part of daily work, and nowadays they are not complaining about the lack of business. A photo story of what happens after a person takes the last breath.
